Hiking and cycling in Demanovska Valley

Demänovská Valley is the most visited locality of the Low Tatras. It lies south of Liptovsky Mikulas, on the northern slopes of the Low Tatras, in the altitude range from 700 to 2,000 m above sea level. m. The Low Tatras are an extensive mountain system with a main ridge that extends over a length of 82 km, with the highest peaks exceeding an altitude of 2,000 m above sea level. Demanovska Valley – the most beautiful valley of the Low Tatras – is 16 km long. It extends from the main ridge between the hills of Ďumbier (2,043 m), the peaks of Krúpova hoľa (1,927 m), Chopok (2,024 m), Dereš (2,003 m) and Poľana (1,889 m) to the north of the Liptov basin. Ideal ski terrains, world-famous caves, the possibility of summer tourism, beautiful fauna and flora complemented by suitable climatic conditions in this valley prompted to build a tourist center, the village Demänovská Dolina.

In Liptov are ideal conditions for all lovers of cycling. The routes through Demänovská Valley, Čiernovažská Valley and around Liptovská Mara are certainly the most beautiful in Slovakia. Demänovská Valley leads the cycle path to the very foot of the peak Chopok. The cycling track measures 23 km from Liptovsky Jan, the total elevation on the route is about 550 m.

Demänovská valley – Pavčina Lehota – Bodice – Liptovský Mikuláš

The cycle route starts at the Jozef Pension in Demänovská Dolina.
Behind the guest house, a forest path leads through the cottage area and leads to the road to Pavčina Lehota. It leads straight to the village, at the crossroads you turn right. You come to groceries. To the left, behind the shop, there is a panel road leading, which will take you comfortably to the village of Bodice.
The road results in a village on Bodická Street. At the crossroads, turn right down the hill along Bodická Street.
You can also go arbitrarily through the streets in the village, heading to the main road to Liptovský Mikuláš. From the grocery store it is necessary to cross part of the road along the main road. There is a sidewalk along the road, which is possible to go with children.
Before the roundabout, turn left onto the sidewalk leading below the roundabout. Smaller children need help with the bicycle in the section under the bridge next to the Demänovka stream.
Continue straight until you reach the town of Palúdzka and join Demänovská Street. On the left you will see the Kaufland store. Here you cross to the other side of the road and turn right onto Chrenoviská Street, on the left you will see a cemetery, a school dormitory and go down a hill, after which you turn left.
You will move smoothly to the path of K. Petrovič Embankment. Turn right onto the bridge over the river Váh. There is a roundabout, after which you continue straight / the second exit / along Štúrova Street.
Near the Prior you get to the city center.

Demänovská valley – Pavčina Lehota – Rozhľadňa – Lazisko – Wooden articular church:

The cycle route starts at the Jozef Pension in the Demänovská Valley. Behind the guest house, a forest path leads through the cottage area and leads to the road to Pavčina Lehota. It leads straight to the village, at the crossroads turn left towards the ski resort Žiarce. The road leads around the agricultural cooperative to the resort, where you turn right along the red cycle path towards Lazisko.
Along the way there is a lookout tower, from which there is a view of a wide area.
In the village of Lazisko, turn left from the cycle path in the direction of Svätý Kríž. You continue through the village and at the end of the village you turn right. The path takes you directly to the wooden articular church.

On the way back you can use the concrete road behind the village Lazisko, which will result in an agricultural cooperative.
