Demänovská Cave of Freedom

The most visited cave from the cave system of Demänovské Caves. Its visitors will be enchanted by the rich sinter decoration, the mysterious underground flow of the Demänovka, cross lakes, typical river-modeled corridors and ceiling troughs. Visitors can choose, there is a traditional circuit: 1150 m, 913 steps, time: about 60 min. or exclusive circuit: 2150 m, 1118 steps, time: about 100 min.

Demänovská Ice Cave

It is located in the northern part of the Demänovské Caves. Ice filling occurs in the lower parts of the cave, especially in the Kmeť dome. Representation has floor ice, ice pillars, stalactites and stalagmites. Rare is the cave fauna and rich history. Length of the tour 650 metres, time: about 45 min.

Stanišovská Cave

It is one of the oldest known caves in Liptov in Slovakia. It is the most important wintering ground for bats in Jánská dolina.

Distance: cca 21 km – Janska Dolina.

Važecká Cave

Known for its rare cave fauna and the location of cave bear bones.

Distance: about 50 km – village Važec.

Belianska Cave

In addition to bizarre rock shapes, it is known for its rich occurrence of calcite filler. The cave was opened in 1882. At present, it is accessible more than 1000 meters.

Distance: about 80 km – Tatranská Lomnica – Tatranská Kotlina.

Vrbické pleso

Vrbické pleso is a glacial lake and the largest natural lake in the Low Tatras. It lies at an altitude of 1113 m above sea level. m. It has an area of 0.69 ha, a maximum depth of 8 m, a length of 115 m and a width of 62 m. From the hotel you can reach it opposite the entrance to the Grand Hotel – further along the educational trail Demänovská valley. Continue along the undemanding tourist marked yellow route around the lake. At the ball you can relax on benches, in the silence of the forest and admire the views of the surrounding ridges of the Low Tatras.

Koloman Sokol Center Liptovský Mikuláš

The gallery owns the largest collection of works by Koloman Sokol, a native of Liptovský Mikuláš. The exhibition is complemented by documentary materials, artist correspondence, realities and photographs.

Synagogue Liptovský Mikuláš

The synagogue is the most monumental classicist building in the city and is one of the largest in Slovakia. In it, the museum presents the history of the once large St. Nicholas Jewish community and various art projects. It is open to the public during the summer season in July and August.

Wooden Articular Church – Holy Cross

The wooden articular evangelical church is one of the largest wooden buildings in Central Europe. The church is the last, undoubtedly the most important artistic expression of Slovak wooden church architecture. The interior features a Baroque altar, a pulpit, a stone baptistery, paintings with biblical scenes and an organ. The church has a capacity of 6,000 people.

The village of Vlkolínec

The best preserved reservation of folk architecture in Slovakia. The purely wooden village has been a monument reserve of folk architecture since 1977 and in December 1993 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage List. It is a living open-air museum of Slovak peasant Dolnoliptov housing.

Orava Castle

One of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia rises on a steep limestone cliff 112 m above the river Orava. The first written mention of the castle dates from the 13th century and the castle is one of the most important monuments of castle architecture in Slovakia. It offers visitors a historical, ethnographic as well as a natural exposition.

Distance: about 60 km – Oravský Podzámok.

Spiš Castle

Due to its size, it is considered one of the largest castle complexes in Central Europe. This national cultural monument documents the development of architecture in our country from the 12th to the 18th century.

Distance: about 110 km – Spišské Podhradie.

City of Levoča

Since 2009, the city has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The most important and unique monument is the Church of St. James with its 11 Gothic and Renaissance winged altars, including the tallest wooden Gothic altar in the world (18.6 m). The historic center is surrounded by a massive castle system with a length of 2.5 km.

Black Eagle Museum Liptovský Mikuláš

The building is a national cultural monument. In the past, there was the center of cultural life of Liptovský Mikuláš. At present, the building houses a unique exhibition from the history of hunting and fishing in Liptov.

Gallery of P.M. Bohúň Liptovský Mikuláš

It is the third oldest gallery in Slovakia and its collection contains about 5,000 works of art. It has several permanent exhibitions: ancient art – from Gothic to Baroque, Slovak fine art of the 19th – 20th century, Slovak fine art of the second half of the 20th century.

Museum of Janko Kráľ Liptovský Mikuláš

The exhibition introduces important events and personalities, rich economic, national, cultural and sports traditions of Liptovský Mikuláš through historical objects, photographs and archival documents.
The St. Nicholas Torture Exhibition presents the fate of the most famous Slovak bandit, Juraj Jánošík (1688 – 1713) and the cruel method of his execution.

Museum of the Liptov village in Pribylina

It is an image of a medieval mansion with privileges and rights of towns. In addition to wooden residential and farm buildings, representing the typical features of folk architecture of peasants and crafts, there are also two rare medieval stone buildings. All buildings together create a unique composition of the historical and cultural environment of ancient Liptov.

Archaeological museum in nature – Liptovská Mara

The area with indicative reconstructions of residential, fortification and cult buildings from the Late Iron Age and the Early Roman Period, one of the most famous and most important localities of the Púchov culture in Slovakia. The archeological museum also includes the original tower of the medieval church of the Virgin Mary, whose history dates back to the 12th century, and the foundations and fortifications of a medieval castle on the top of Havránek.

Distance: about 30 km – Bobrovník.
